Parallels are being drawn between the Christchurch attacker and those responsible for the bombings in Sri Lanka.

More than 300 people are dead following explosions at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.

Massey University terrorism and intelligence specialist Dr John Battersby told Mike Yardley there's a person on the far right in Christchurch and what seems to be a jihadist attempt in Sri Lanka.

He says they're in the same cyber-space, using the same tactics and the same kind of vulnerable people.

"I think there is a global development in terrorism that's been facilitated by the internet and it's going to impact on people in different countries."

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's office has reportedly said they have "not yet seen any intelligence upon which such an assessment might be based".
