Helping 12 families own their own homes in seven months is being called a considerable achievement.
The Government's Progressive Home Ownership Scheme has helped 12 families break into the housing market since July.
Housing Minister Megan Woods celebrated the results, while National mocked - saying the government had put out more news releases about the scheme, than families into homes.
New Zealand Housing Foundation boss Dominic Foote told Mike Hosking it's a brilliant concept, but not an easy task.
"It's working with families who have been locked out of the market because their incomes haven't kept up with property prices - and that takes a lot of time and investment."
