The school holidays are expected to provide another challenge for hotels running managed isolation or quarantine facilities.
Projections show by the end of the week, there'll be more people coming into the country than rooms available.
Colliers national director of hotels, Dean Humphries, told Mike Yardley it's a juggle for hotels which have signed contracts to run isolation facilities, so have to move regular guests to other accommodation.
"For some it might not be a great outcome with guests have to be moved, there are still plenty of hotel rooms in the country."
Humphries says there are 27,000 hotel rooms in the country and the Ministry of Health's only using five or six-thousand of them.
"Hotels need a lot of health and safety tuition, clinical staff and security, mobilising these resources, which will be challenging, particularly during school holidays."
