Is this the end for corporate and charity boxing events?
Prominent Auckland gym Boxing Central is the latest to say no to more events, saying there are too many mismatches and the fights are under regulated.
This comes after an amateur boxer fighting for charity died in Hamilton in 2016 while just last month another amateur was hospitalised after the fight lasted eight seconds.
Boxing central owner Dean Evans told Mike Hosking it has become too competitive and rules are not being followed.
" In the beginning, the fighters and contenders met each before in training to spar with each so we could watch and regulate them, but that is not happening anymore."
