Kiwi Scott McLaughlin has won a third consecutive Supercars driver's title.

McLaughlin has the championship with one round to spare at Bathurst following the second round at The Bend.

As well as being only the second New Zealander all-time to win the title, he is now just the fourth driver in Australian touring car history to win three straight.

The long drive at Mount Panorama next month looks to be McLaughlin's Supercars swansong, as he is set to race in IndyCar for all of next year.

Meanwhile, the Warriors have rounded out their NRL season on a high, defeating the Manly Sea Eagles 40-28 on the Central Coast.

Amid a chaotic season that saw them relocate to New South Wales and deal with a coach firing and players departing, the Warriors managed an admirable 8-12 record.

Guy Heveldt says there remains uncertainty over whether they will be in New Zealand for next season.

"It's all still very up in the air, and I'm not sure whether they'd be overly thrilled having a second season like they have now, one's probably enough."

Heveldt adds one of his two disappointments for the 2020 season is the departure of Todd Payten, who is departing his role as interim coach, taking up a three year deal to be the mentor of the North Queensland Cowboys.

Elsewhere Kiwi UFC star Israel Adesanya retained his middleweight title belt in emphatic fashion, defeating Brazilian Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi.

Adesanya won via a second round technical knockout.

Andrew Saville says if he wasn't already, Adesanya is now the poster boy of the sport.

"He's made quite a bit already, but he's going to make a heck of a lot more because he is beating all comers."
