It's been a four month journey but the crew behind EatLessPlastic are back on dry land.

Mike Hosking spoke to the team back in April about their journey - travelling across the southern Pacific Ocean to document plastic in our oceans in areas where data has never been collected.

Their goal is to continue the plastic pollution conversation and to collate ideas about what Pacific Islanders are doing to combat the problem.

Co-skipper Chris Dickson told Mike Hosking the journey was an absolute shock, and that his discoveries have converted him to the anti-plastic movement.

“Nine out of every 10 trawls we did, we found plastic. Not big bits, but bits the size of a diamond stud of an ear or the size of a toe nail, but nearly trawl we did we found plastic.”

Dickson says their gatherings will be analysed to find hard data they can take to governments around the world.
