The French Government is warning its people against a second wave of Covid-19 cases.
The country is recording numbers similar to those seen in May, hovering around 1,000 new cases daily.
Europe correspondent Catherine Field told Mike Hosking for a while, France looked to be in a good position.
"It looked as though France had got away successfully with doing that complete end to the lockdown, no signs of the second wave. But it seems now the virus is affecting young people. Summer is here, people are moving around particularly young people."
Ms Field says numbers are growing in Belgium as well, ranging around 270 new cases a day - a massive rise from what they were seeing in early July at roughly 80 per day.
Ms Field adds officials are cracking down on mask wearing.
