If you're sick enough to visit your GP, you should probably be tested for Covid-19.
Chris Hipkins says in recent days the number of tests processed does not meet Government expectations.
The Health Minister's instructed officials to ramp up testing for the virus, with daily testing rates not meeting targets on a number of occasions this week.
Officials want 4000 tests conducted a day.
Royal College of GPs medical director Bryan Betty told Mike Yardley GPs are a bit confused over who should be tested, because symptoms are similar to a flu or cold.
"The problem is working out who should be tested. That's been the problem trying to work that out."
