A big boost for West Coast councils to help with freedom camping.
The government's handing out $8.5 million to councils around the country for infrastructure like toilets.
Two districts on the West Coast received the most money, with $850,000 for Grey District and $780,000 for Westland.
Grey District Mayor Bruce Smith told Mike Hosking they will be able to put toilets in and clean them.
"It buys us, in our case, about eight or nine individual sites which we are going to be able to make pretty special."
Westland mayor Tony Kokshoorn told Mike Hosking the money is welcome.
"It goes a long way. it's much need money here on the West Coast, it's well overdue but finally it's here."
