Known as the world's greatest adventurers Sir Ranulph Fiennes is showing no signs of slowing down.

Fiennes became the oldest Briton to scale Mt Everest when, in 2009 at age 65, he reached the summit of the world's tallest mountain.

Now, the explorer is returning to the River Nile in a three-part National Geographic series retracing Ranulph’s second expedition, 50 years ago.

He told Mike Hosking that although he has travelled to many places around the world, he hasn't got bored with the adventure which comes with travelling.

"I was very grateful for the opportunity to do this, I was last there 50 years ago and going back with my cousin really is a dream come true."

In 2013 Sir Ranulph had to pull out of a polar expedition five years in the planning after once again falling victim to frostbite on his injured left hand.

The series screens on Sundays from the 31st March, 8.30pm on the National Geographic channel.
