It's been alleged the National party leadership wanted Jake Bezzant gone during last year’s election.
Concerns were raised about embellishments on his CV, but President Peter Goodfellow didn't want to do anything about it.
The leadership were apparently very unhappy about this.

Former Senior Ministerial Advisor for the National party Brigitte Morten told Mike Hosking the accusations were known within the party.
