Nearly 1000 cyclists were hospitalised between 2012 and 2016 - the number rising by about 17 per cent every year.
One in 10 of those admitted had suffered major trauma.Â
Cycling Action Network project manager, Patrick Morgan, told Mike Hosking people don't make good choices when they don't have proper safety measures in place.Â
He says cities that have substandard bike lanes, lead to cyclists making bad decisions.Â
