Snow Sports in New Zealand are enjoying a golden period of success and popularity.
Freestyle boarder Zoi Sadowski-Synott has been one of the country's brightest prospects. She won bronze in Pyeongchang last year, a World Championship snowboard slopestyle gold and a US Open gold over the new year.
Snow Sports New Zealand's high-performance manager Ashley Light told Mike Hosking the success comes from a lot of hard work from multiple coaches and a positive environment to nurture the athletes.
"The coaching set-up has been vital. Getting the right support for the athletes all the time, not just occasionally is really important.
"Many of the athletes in our sports are young people who have amazing futures ahead of them, so we are conscious of not pushing them too hard."
In December, Snow Sports New Zealand was elevated from a targeted sport to a tier two sport and received 2.25 million dollars from High-Performance Sport New Zealand.
