The Justice Minister thinks the Abortion Law Reform Bill will pass its first reading, but says there are many more hurdles to come.

The Bill proposes doing away with mental and physical health testing for women no more than 20 weeks' pregnant.

Andrew Little says he's feeling pretty confident about the first reading in Parliament today.

If is passes, the Bill will go to select committee where people can have their say.

Little told Mike Hosking he doesn't know what the precise numbers will be, but is pretty hopeful.

“My expectation is that the numbers will be pretty good, but the numbers you get in the first reading are not reflective of what is to come.”
