People thinking of buying a house will soon have an easier way to check whether it's up-to-scratch.
Auckland Council is bringing in a home-fit check that will be included on a property's LIM report.
Green Building Council CEO Andrew Eagles says it's designed to make sure homes have decent heating, insulation and drainage.
He told Mike Hosking people can request it from a building inspector and the result will be a simple pass / fail.
"40 percent of our homes are damp and mouldy. New Zealanders deserve to know if a home they're thinking of buying is warm, healthy and well-insulated."
