The lawyer leading class action against Steel and Tube says today's court decision sends a strong message about the company's wrongdoings.
Steel and Tube has been fined almost $1.9 million for misleading representations about the strengths and stability of its steel mesh.
It was used in the Christchurch earthquake rebuild.
Adina Thorn told Larry Williams this leaves home owners in a strange situation.
"They've got potentially non compliant mesh under their homes and now they have to ask does it work, does it not work? We know it's non-compliant with the earthquake standards, but no one knows what that means."
