The Oceania footballer of the 20th century is remembering one of the world's best.

Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60.

Wynton Rufer says the Argentine was one of a kind.

"Incredible dribbling ability, and because he was small, the centre of gravity was just incredible. He'd look to go left, and he would go right, and he would do things in the game that were not normal."

He still remembers the day he took the shirt from Diego Maradona's back.

Rufer's German club side Werder Bremen faced Maradona's Napoli in the knock-out rounds of the 1989 UEFA Cup.

"In the first league in Naples, I scored the winner in the 90th minute, so I swapped shirts with him. For me personally, that's a very special memory."

He says Maradona could do things others couldn't.
