Auckland having to wait another week for a slight easing of restrictions is being described as a kick in the guts to businesses.
From 11:59pm next Tuesday, the region will move to Step Two of Alert Level 3.
It means retail and public facilities will open and outdoor gatherings can increase to 25, with no household limit.
Heart of the City Chief Executive Viv Beck told Heather du Plessis-Allan says she was expecting restrictions to be eased much sooner.
“I think given the ICU and the vaccination rates going up, I actually thought they’d go to Two. And I thought they had got the message about really balancing health and economic impact.”
