Salvation for a small skifield whose access road was wiped out by the Canterbury floods.

Mount Olympus was facing a bleak season, with $30,000 of emergency road repairs needed to open next month.

But a crowd-funding flurry of donations has raised $75,000.

Vice president Tim Cookson says it's a turnaround - after facing more closures on top of Covid-19 and last season's poor snow.

"Our finances are pretty drained after not being able to open last year, and we've got this severe storm damage, so it's been a perfect storm."

He says the money will allow it to future-proof the track.

"People obviously thought 'This isn't good, we need to back this', which they've done, and for me, the result has been absolutely humbling. It's blown us away to be honest."
