The Huddle: Will you avoid a Covid vaccine if it means you can't travel?

Air New Zealand says it's actively monitoring the situation around Covid 19 vaccines.

Qantas has announced a no jab no fly rule -- where international passengers could be refused a seat, if they're not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Air New Zealand says its chief Medical Officer Dr Ben Johnston talks regularly with colleagues at other airlines, and is a member of the international Medical Advisory Group.

It says this group is active in proposing guidelines on how to get international travel moving again in a safe way.

The national carrier says it's also talking to our freight forwarding customers on how it can play a part in bringing a vaccine or vaccines safely into New Zealand and across its domestic network.

But it says it's ultimately up to governments to determine when and how it's safe to reopen borders, and it's continuing to work closely with authorities on this.

Meanwhile, ACT's accusing the Government of planning to introduce a capital gains tax by stealth.

Finance Minister Grant Robertson has asked Treasury to look at a range of tax options - including extending the bright line test.

The test has a number of exceptions, but means someone who sells a residential home within five years of its purchase must pay tax.

Party leader David Seymour's raised an eyebrow at the development - as Jacinda Ardern's ruled out a capital gains tax while she's Prime Minister.

Finally, Police will now align with many European counterparts - in using Skoda for frontline police cars.

They were forced to change suppliers after General Motors pulled Holden out of Australasia.

The first Skoda Superbs are expected to be patrolling roads as early as next April next year, with a choice of two-wheel drive and four-by-four station wagons.

Commissioner Andrew Coster says they will significantly reduce their fleet's carbon footprint.
