The Huddle: National's diversity problem and angry emails

A mini National Party reshuffle will happen before the week's end.

The party's former deputy Paula Bennett announced yesterday she won't be standing in September's election.

Leader Todd Muller told Heather du Plessis-Allan we won't have to wait long to see who's filling the void - and it could be a familiar face.

It comes as the party faces continued criticism for having limited Maori representation on their front bench.

Meanwhile, a senior manager at an Auckland transport company has made headlines after she sent a scathing work email at 3.10am, telling disgruntled staff to "go and do something else" if they aren't up to the job.

Fullers360 fleet operations manager Megan Watson sent a lengthy group message to workers at the ferry and tourism business venting her frustration over staff complaints about operations not yet returning to normal after the Covid lockdown.

Saying she penned the directive with "a heavy heart", Watson offloaded how "sad and exhausted" she was about the company's situation post-lockdown but mostly with the prevailing view from many workers that "we should be back to normal".

Listen to Tim Wilson and Matthew Tukaki join Heather du Plessis-Allan on The Huddle to discuss these and the rest of the day's news.
