The Huddle: Is Government taking the right approach on rule breakers?

NZ Police are redirecting people to its website or the all of government Covid-19 website after its 105 non-emergency phone line was overwhelmed as people sought clarity over Covid rules - or to report possible breaches.

Police shared a message on various NZ Police regional Facebook pages saying the 105 line was experiencing high demand and redirecting people to use the 105 online service where possible.

It comes after Jacinda Ardern urged New Zealanders to call people out if they were breaching the rules, but clarified that it wasn't for politicians to make decisions about prosecutions.

The Prime Minister has also said she won't be apologising to one Covid case accused of breaching isolation rules.

Case L, the sister of a Papatoetoe High School student, wasn't isolating at home and went to work at KFC Botany three days before she tested positive for the virus.

She said she was never told to isolate and only her sister received a text message saying she needed to be tested and isolate.

Ardern said about 15 texts and phone calls were made to the family.

"In my mind everyone at Papatoetoe High School getting a test felt really clear to me," Ardern said.
