The Police Deputy Commissioner says almost all those affected by a breach of the gun buyback website have now been spoken to.

35 gun owners had their private information, including bank account details, exposed on the database.

Mike Clements says they feel let down. He says they were disappointed, but grateful that police had made contact.

Clements says he told them there was no evidence that their information had been used.

According to police, only one person had access to the private information.

Lawyer for the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners Stephen Franks told Heather du Plesiss-Allan that they have gone back and asked the people who told them about the breach. 

"We'd say that the number is unlikely to ever be known. We are not disagreeing with the Police, but we just don't know." 

Franks says those people are telling them that they don't want to be further involved. 

He says that if what the Police say is true, then people should be relieved.
