An advisory group says the Government was ill-prepared for the Delta outbreak.
In a report written in September, advisor Sir Brian Roche said the health system's infrastructure was fragile and urged the importance of rapid antigen testing.
He told Heather du Plessis-Allan other nations’ responses could have been enlightening.
“We had the opportunity to learn from others and we didn’t take as much of that opportunity as we should have.”
Roche says the lack of staffing won't just hit Covid-19 patients.
“If you're going to be dedicated doing Covid, what are you giving up? We can't live in a world where the only thing we talk about or service is Covid. People are still getting cancer.”
