New Zealand Rugby Players' Association boss Rob Nichol isn't losing sleep over a potential player revolt, citing a lot of work still needs to be done for the Rugby Championship to go ahead.

A schedule has been released that New Zealand Rugby insist they did not authorise, which sees the All Blacks play their final match on December 12.

Based on current quarantining rules, players would need to isolate away from families on Christmas Day.

Nichol told Heather du Plessis-Allan they're not at the stage where players are choosing home over tests yet.

"First thing is, we're going back to ask the question because New Zealand hasn't agreed to the draw as New Zealand Rugby have said.

"There's a lot of water to go under the bridge for the Rugby Championship to go ahead. From our perspective, we're still waiting for the protocol of what the whole tournament looks like."

He says that they are still working through ways to make sport in the age of Covid work for everyone.

"This Covid thing is not going away. We want to get sport going across trans-Tasman, whether it's male, female sport, rugby, league, netball, what have you, what could we do that makes the whole process more effective anyway?"
