Auckland has managed to secure access to more water from the Waikato River.
An urgent meeting was held today between Waikato and Auckland officials, as well as Environment Minister David Parker.
Auckland mayor Phil Goff told Heather du Plessis-Allan they're looking to get 50 million litres a day before next winter.
"We will be looking to use a consent that has already been allocated to another party that isn't being used by that party, and the other parties will agree to that transfer."
That comes on top of a deal to take 25 million litres a day that had been allocated to Hamilton City Council.
Auckland's mayor says he hasn't seen a draft report into alleged fraud surrounding the America's Cup.
The report, commissioned by MBIE, exposes a potential incident in which more than a million-dollars of event money was paid into a Hungarian bank account.
Goff says Auckland Council didn't contribute anything to the $40 million fund from central Government.
"It looks pretty murky at the moment, no one's really quite clear if there is truth or not truth to the allegations, but they certainly needed investigating and that's been done thoroughly."Â
