Auckland's Mayor thinks households will prefer a targeted climate levy, rather than it being lumped with normal rates.  

It would raise 471-million dollars over the next 10 years. 

It'll help ramp up bus services, improve walking and cycling options, increase urban forests - and decarbonise ferries.  

It'll cost a median-value home about one-dollar-ten a week.  

Phil Goff told Heather du Plessis-Allan Aucklanders like targeted rates because they can see what it's spent on. 

“We’ve got a guarantee, under law, that you’ll spend it in the area that you’ve said you’ve raised it for, so it provides accountability and transparency.”
