Climate change might be making things worse for hayfever sufferers.
A new paper out of Victoria University says warmer, windier weather and more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to climate change might be making the allergy more prevalent.
Penny Jorgensen from Allergy New Zealand told Heather Du Plessis Allan anecdotally they have heard from people their hayfever is getting worse.
“We seem to have more people talking about how severe their symptoms are compared to previous years and some people developing allergies that probably hadn’t really noticed them much before.”
