An opinion piece doing the rounds today is exploring the phenomenon that is the 'news voice'.
It is about how, the second the camera or the microphone goes on, the reporter or newsreader suddenly becomes deeper voiced, perfectly polished, and somehow quite different to their real life selves.
So why are they all doing 'news voice'? Where does it come from, and what purpose does it serve?
