Catherine Beard from Export New Zealand joins Heather Du Plessis-Allan to talk about a tweet from agriculture minister Damien O'Connor that has raised some eyebrows.
O'Connor's recommended New Zealanders read an article on Chinese investment written by a Chinese finance professor.
The article is critical of the usefulness of Chinese investment in developed countries, saying while Chinese investment can help grow developing countries faster it is unlikely to benefit the United Kingdom or other advanced economies.
China insiders admitted this was an unusual thing to say.
However Beard says New Zealand's economy differs from the UK's.
"I would argue that this article, while it might be interesting form an advanced, bigger economy like the United Kingdom, it doesn't really apply to New Zealand."
