The Minister in charge of isolation is light on details about exactly when the Auckland supermarket visited by a man with Covid-19 was closed and cleaned.

The man escaped the Stamford Plaza last night between 7 and 8pm and went to the Victoria Street West Countdown.
He returned a positive test this morning.

Police were aware of the visit last night.

Minister in charge Megan Woods told Heather du Plessis-Allan that a variety of CCTV footage is being reviewed.

"Police have been questioning him about where he went, as we need all that information for contact tracing."

She says it is her understanding that as soon as the Police went there, the supermarket closed.

"The supermarket was immediately closed and that cleaning took place last night."

When pressed by du Plessis-Allan about the time, Woods said she does not have those details.

However, Countdown health and safety general manager Kiri Hannafin says she made the decision to close the store at 8.15am after finding out about the incident.

She says authorities didn't advise them to close the store, nor did they know until mid-morning about the positive test.
