Cannabis referendum prompts questions on how to test drivers

The floodgates have opened on the cannabis debate, and one of the major concerns is the issue of drugged driving.

Evidence shows that cannabis and cars don't mix, but does driving stoned increase your risk of a crash?

Dr Mary-Jane McCarthy is ESR's forensic specialised analytical services manager. She told Heather du Plessis-Allan says that New Zealand is looking into moving towards random roadside testing. 

She says that in Australia all states already have forms of oral or saliva testing in random roadside testing. 

"I think it would be reasonable if we are looking at legalising recreational cannabis, we put in place some kind of testing for drivers." 

Dr McCarthy says that the higher the level would confirm the most recent use.
