Kyle Mills: Cricket was the winner at the end of the day

One ex-Black Cap says cricket was the winner at the end of the day.

The Black Caps lost the Cricket World Cup final through a technicality rule after originally drawing with England overnight.

Both the 50-over match and the super-over resulted in a tie, but England won because they hit more boundaries overall, than the Black Caps.

Ex-Black Cap Kyle Mills says boundaries are only one aspect of cricket.

He told Heather du Plessis-Allan the number of boundaries isn't representative of a team's performance.

"Kane's our best batsmen, and their best batsmen would have to be Jason Roy. They're both very different batsmen. Kane is a workman like batter, with lots of ones, lots of twos with the odd boundary, but Jason Roy is more of a boundary hunter."

He feels that the rule could be reviewed for future world cups.

However, he says there weren't many weaknesses in either team and both gave it their all.

"You couldn't really fault any team for playing poorly. They were just playing the cards they were dealt, both sides."

Mills says such a theatric game shows the true beauty of sport.
