Kris Faafoi hints there may be good news coming for the primary sector when Minister of Primary Industries when Damien O'Connor makes the announcement around RSE workers.

The Immigration Minister also can't say why his ministry granted three criminals New Zealand residency.

The men have 10 convictions between them, including drink driving and using a fake passport.

Kris Faafoi says it wasn't his call, but made by Associate Immigration Minister Phil Twyford.

He says there may be other factors he's not aware of.

He's furthermore defending the Government's decision not to deport the New Lynn terrorist when it had the chance.

Faafoi says the Government was not aware the man was a threat to national security back in 2018, when his refugee status was being reviewed.

This is despite the Government knowing in April of that year he wanted to join a terrorist group.

Faafoi says the Government did all it could.
