Feta is the latest product our dairy producers are facing difficulty with.
Kiwi-made feta is being exported to the world, especially to the Chinese market where it is hugely popular.
However, the European Union is not happy about us using the word feta, because they believe it should reserved for EU countries where feta originated.
Now with the EU signing up to more and more trade agreements around the world, including China, it’s preventing our producers to sell cheese called feta there.
Executive director of the Dairy Companies Association Kimberly Crewther joined Heather du Plessis-Allan to discuss what these plans mean for our producers.
