Thousands of Kiwis hoping to ring in the New Years at Rhythm and Vines are out of luck.
Organisers of the Gisborne music festival have postponed the notorious event at Waiohika Estate - until Easter Weekend, next year.
Attendees will be able to camp over four nights from April 14 and those who can't make the new date can get refunds.
When New Zealand shifts to the traffic light system at midnight, Gisborne will be in the Red tier, limiting gatherings to just 100 people.
Director Keiran Spillane told Heather du Plessis-Allan they're disappointed, but it's the right choice.
“With Tairawhiti in a red traffic light and, realistically, it’s not going to come out of that until early 2022, it’s time to pause and reset.”
