The distraught father of missing British backpacker Grace Millane has just spoken to media in Auckland.

His 22-year-old daughter was last seen in Auckland on Saturday night.

Grace was last captured on CCTV footage on Saturday night entering the City Life Hotel in Auckland - at 9.41pm - with a male friend.

She hasn't spoken with her family in over a week and didn't respond to birthday messages on Sunday.

David Millane grappled with his emotions as he explained how concerned the family is.

"Grace has never been out of contact with us for this amount of time, she is usually in daily contact with us on social media."

Newstalk ZB reporter Jordan Bond attended the media conference and told Larry Williams the last confirmed sighting at the City Life Hotel in Auckland is the latest update they have.

"Police do not yet have evidence of foul play, and the investigation is still wide open."
