Aucklanders have saved more than 20 billion litres of water over nearly 18 months.
The city's remaining water restrictions are to be lifted this Saturday.
They were put in place last May during a record-breaking drought when dam levels dropped to 42.5 per cent.
Watercare chief executive Jon Lamonte told Andrew Dickens the saving was a blend of both domestic and commercial users.
“I think everyone has got the message now. You can see it in the demand statistics every day. It’s well down on previous demands.”
