Some kiwi olive growers decided to enter an international olive oil competition in New York, and picked up some silverware.
John and Angela Goodwin, who run Woodside Bay Olive Oils on Waiheke Island, were one of the lucky winners.
John Goodwin told Andrew Dickens a combination of things make their olive oil so good.
"It's got a lot to do with our maritime climate, we're spray free so we don't use any chemicals.Â
"We look after our tress and we take care in the way we blend them."
Mr Goodwin added they only have around 200 trees.
"We are very much boutique and therefore we really sell locally on Waiheke, and we have one outlet in the city."Â
