Jacinda Ardern has taken a hard stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

At 11 pm last night she responded in an initial statement, before speaking in a press conference today.

Some of the sanctions introduced include targeted travel bans for government officials associated with the invasion, prohibiting exports to Russian military and suspending bilateral foreign ministry engagement until further notice.

Meanwhile, Chris Hipkins has come out today and said there is a lot more Covid in schools than previously seen.

With the rise of Omicron cases, particularly in schools, Hipkins said 1 in 5 schools are now dealing with Covid, up from 1 in 10.

A lot of facemasks for teachers and students are now being distributed around schools.
