Border restrictions are creating anxious Kiwis.
As our border restrictions continue, Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters this morning told Mike Hosking we should only allow travel from countries with zero community transmitted cases of Covid-19.
While the European Union and the Cook Islands has allowed New Zealanders to enter the bloc without having to quarantine, cases continue to spike in countries like the United States and Brazil, while closer to home, Australia's state of Victoria is seeing a spike in cases.
Clinical Psychologist Jacqui Maguire told Heather Du Plessis-Allan the ambiguity is causing anxiety in New Zealanders.
"When will that zero community transmission happen in other countries? When will those borders open? When can I reach my family?
"That anxiety turns on your fight or flight response."
Maguire says that many people's brains will be catastrophising the situation.Â
She says people should focus on what we can be grateful for rather than let the anxiety take over your life.Â
