Dion Reynolds and Jessica O'Connor who were missing for 18 days missing in the Kahurangi National Park have been found alive.
Reynolds and O'Connor, 23, went tramping in the Kahurangi National Park but failed to return when expected.
The pair sustained only minor injuries but an ambulance had met a helicopter to take them to Nelson hospital.
Reynold's work colleagues at Takaka's Roots Bar are overjoyed with the news. Owner Holly Osmond told Andrew Dickens they never lost hope, despite the length of time they were missing.
"We spend quite a lot of time out those ways, we know the areas well, we know how unforgiving it can be. The more I realised the search had gone inland and wasn't coastal, the more I sort of though yeah you can survive in there.
"As long as the search team is still searching, then you just got to keep the faith."
