Leader of the newly-formed Coalition New Zealand Hannah Tamaki joins Heather du Plessis-Allan to talk about her newest role in politics.
Tamaki, the wife of controversial Destiny Church leader Bishop Brian Tamaki, is to lead the new political party, which would not be a Christian party, but would be aimed at a "silent majority" of New Zealanders who are believed to be unhappy with where society is heading.
It would promote strong "family values", Hannah Tamaki said at the party's launch this afternoon, in a speech which strongly criticised the current Government.
The campaign would follow a two-pronged strategy of contesting specific electorates while also aiming for a party vote over 5 per cent, Tamaki said.
Tamaki says she has no worries around the party's association with her husband.
"i'm a woman in my own right.
"They might want to vote for a party that has Hannah Tamaki at the head of it."
