Grant Robertson insists there are MIQ spots for those who urgently need it.  

Pregnant Afghanistan-based Kiwi reporter Charlotte Bellis has been unable to secure MIQ.  

The Government's encouraged her to bring forward her travel plans, to make her eligible for an emergency MIQ spot. 

The Deputy Prime Minister told Heather du Plessis-Allan emergency spots have been created for situations like this. 

“There are rules and regulations, and I know that can be frustrating for people, but they’re there because the officials, on our behalf, have to look at the applications from a range of different people with different circumstances.”
