Kiwifruit growers who took MPI to court over the vine killing disease PSA are thrilled with the decision in favour of them -but want more.
Kiwifruit Claim Committee's Grant Eynon says the 212 companies involved will be seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation.
MPI has been found partially liable for the disease entering the country.
Eynon says it's been a long eight years for growers since PSA was first found.
He says MPI can appeal the case, but if it doesn't, growers will be looking for a payout.
"We've got 20 days to see if they appeal, and if they don;'t then we'll be scheduling another case to decide the amount of compensation.
"$450 million is a figure that's been there."
