While COP26 was considered a bit of a dud, this year's APEC Summit has been applauded for making real progress.

Leaders pledged to freeze $500 billion in fossil fuel subsidies and made progress on eliminating tariffs on Covid medicines.

NZME business commentator Fran O’Sullivan told Heather du Plessis-Allan she’s happy with what they achieved.

“I think the Government pulled off a bit of a masterstroke having a meeting in July that was focusing on Covid then, and actually at that point, managed to get some agreement on eliminating tariffs and restrictions on trade and Covid medicines, and from there they've really built from that.”
