Waikato District Health Board has lost the most workers due to the Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
DHB workers are now required to have at least one dose of the jab or lose the job.
Overall, 1300 staff countrywide have been stood down, with 154 of those based in Waikato.
Rural GP Network chair and Whangamata Doctor Fiona Bolden told Heather du Plessis-Allan a number of them will be rural workers.
“Rural midwives for example, and we would be worried about how that will impact the care of the rural people in this area.”
