Former president Donald Trump has been found liable of sexually abusing and defaming columnist E Jean Carroll.

Trump has been ordered to pay her $5 million in damages but because this is a civil case, he won't serve jail time.

US correspondent Dan Mitchinson says this is unlikely to stop his plan to run for president in 2024, but Republican leaders will be concerned about the shadow cast by this verdict.
