The Health Minister hopes that a clearer picture will form over 48 hours about how new Covid cases got sick.

Auckland has been put back into level 3 lockdown, while the rest of the country is in level 2, after four confirmed community transmission cases of Covid-19.

Four probable cases of Covid-19 - are connected to the family that's tested positive in South Auckland.

The probable cases have all shown symptoms.

"We've been chasing down the contacts fo the family members who tested positive."Chris Hipkins told Heather du Plessis-Allan that it is still "a bit of a puzzle", but they have done a lot of contact tracing and testing.

He says that "several hundred contacts" have been identified so far, but no link to overseas travel has been discovered yet.

Hipkins says that the family has co-operated entirely with officials.

He also hit back at claims from National that he had been avoiding briefing Dr Shane Reti, their health spokesperson.

"I had a good conversation with him this morning, and he indicated he wanted to help," but Hipkins says that there has been nothing extra to tell him outside of what has been announced at the press conferences.
