The Covid-19 Response Minister has defended not letting international arrivals in Auckland self-isolate at home.
From November 14, MIQ stays for returnees are halving to seven days, followed by about three days of home isolation.
There have been calls to let those staying in Auckland solely home quarantine, because of the community outbreak.
Chris Hipkins told Heather du Plessis-Allan it's too hard to work out at the border, where people are headed.
“Establishing a system to work all of that out, itself would be a quite a significant logistical challenge and by the time we figure that out, we might not need to use it.”
